Growing Fairly: Our Commitment to People and Culture
When we talk about sustainability at St. Ewe, it’s not just about environmental impact - it’s also about our people, our culture and how we show up for our team every day.
That’s why we’re so proud to have recently been recognised as a Sunday Times Best Place to Work. For us, that recognition reflects something deeper than growth - it speaks to the kind of workplace we’re working hard to build.
As a certified B Corp, we believe that being a responsible business means embedding justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) into everything we do.
We’re on a journey, and while we’re still shaping our approach, we think it’s important to be open about where we are, what we’re learning and where we want to go next.
What JEDI means to us
Within the B Corp framework, JEDI is recognised as a pillar in its own right, reflecting how important it is to building a responsible business. Rather than sitting separately, it runs through everything we do, from how we support our farmers to how we look after our people. For us, it’s about:
- Creating a workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, heard and able to thrive
- Taking shared responsibility for building an inclusive culture
- Committing to continuous improvement, even when we don’t have all the answers
- Being transparent about both our progress and our challenges
- Our board of directors being ultimately accountable for JEDI progress
We’ve already taken meaningful steps along this journey, including:
- Becoming a Real Living Wage employer
- Introducing a Menopause Policy to better support our team
- Hosting bi-monthly meetings with our Inclusive Culture Group, which includes team members from across the business
- Regular employee feedback sessions to make meaningful, long lasting changes to our work environment
- Free period products available all the time
- Flexible working
- Enhanced maternity and paternity policies
- Mentoring opportunities
- Quiet work spaces and adaptive work stations
- Private health care access for all employees
- Fair hiring practices, always
- Continuing to build a culture rooted in fairness, respect and openness
But we know there's more to do, and that meaningful change takes time, intent and a commitment to keep listening, learning and evolving.

Meet Emma, our Senior People & Culture Manager
A big part of this next chapter is being led by our Senior People & Culture Manager, Emma, who is helping shape how JEDI comes to life across St. Ewe.
Emma joined us with a clear passion for building workplaces where people feel they truly belong, and has some eggciting plans for the future.
What does JEDI mean to you in a workplace?
“For me, it’s about making sure everyone feels safe, supported and able to be themselves at work. It’s not just policies - it’s the everyday moments, conversations and decisions that shape how people experience being part of a business.”
What kind of culture do you want to build here?
“One where people feel proud to work, where different perspectives are valued and where we actively look after each other. Inclusion shouldn’t feel like an initiative. It should feel like part of who we are.”
Why is this moment important?
“We’re at a really exciting stage where we can be intentional about the culture we’re building as we grow. That’s a huge opportunity to make sure we’re creating something that works for everyone, not just today but in the future too.”
What we're focusing on next
As we continue to evolve, we’re turning our attention to building a clear, more structured JEDI roadmap. Over the coming months, we’ll be focusing on:
- Taking our Inclusive Culture group to the next level, setting clear goals and measurable targets for the year ahead
- Listening even more closely to our people, through surveys, feedback and focused conversations
- Further embedding JEDI into key moments, from recruitment to development through our new learning academy which will enable further development of our team across all levels and backgrounds
- Identifying where we have the biggest opportunity to make a meaningful difference to our team - and acting on it
There’s no finish line here, just a commitment to keep listening, learning and improving.
Looking ahead
We’re committed to learning as we go, measuring our progress and being transparent with our results. Over the coming months, we’ll be putting plans into action and building a clearer roadmap. Just as importantly, we’ll be sharing that journey openly.
We’ll be back later this year to reflect on what we’ve learned, what we’ve changed and where our next opportunities lie. Because for us, sustainability isn’t just about what we do - it’s about who we are.
